35 Estonian musicians played for Minsk dwellers: wind orchestra Saxon performed at Classic Music at Cityhall Together with A1

On 10 August the fourth out of six concerts of Classic Music at Cityhall Together with A1 took place in Minsk presenting the first in this season foreign participant. Estonian wind orchestra Saxon performed music of well-known soviet films and theatric productions for the residents and guests of the Belarusian capital.

The band from Pärnu consists of 35 musicians of different generations (between 13 and 78 years). The orchestra is famous in their home country for support of wind music tradition over half a century and organizes street performances in Estonia every year.

Saxon plays music from classic masterpieces up to classic pop. Here in Minsk the band presented it’s program based on well-known music from soviet cinematography and theatric productions: I Used to Love from The Twelve Chairs, Oh, My Heart, You Don’t Know Any Piece from Funny Lads, There Lived Captain Courageous from Captain Grant’s Children, etc. Besides, there were Estonian songs and hits of soviet era performed (i.e. a Million of Red Roses) arranged by Estonian composers.

A popular Estonian singer and actor of Tallinn City Theater Marko Matvere and piano player Tarmo Eespere played arias from operas like Tannhauser and Traviata, operettas like Der Zigeunerprimas and Die Zirkusprinzessin.

This season on the occasion of it’s anniversary Classic Music at Cityhall Together with A1 traveled to five cities. There were concerts organized in Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno and Brest. On 20 July a series of concerts started in Minsk and will run till 31 August. State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus and International concert soloist, professor of Highschool of Arts Timur Sergeyenya (Belgium - Belarus) will play on 17 August and Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus on 31 August.

Every concert of Classic Music at Cityhall Together with A1 is traditionally free.
