4G became available to A1 subscribers in almost 200 urban centers of Belarus

A1, a telecom, ICT and content service provider, and the beCloud infrastructure operator completed the first stage of the joint project to develop 4G mobile communication in Belarus. 4G mobile communication became available to A1 subscribers in all major cities of the country within the existing beCloud LTE network.

The beCloud LTE network, on the basis of which the first stage of the project involving the simultaneous activation of more than 2,000 base stations in the frequency range of 1,800 MHz was implemented, covers all regional centers of Belarus: Minsk, Grodno, Brest, Gomel, Vitebsk and Mogilev, as well as most major cities in all six regions of the country. These include Bobruisk, Zhlobin, Baranovichi, Vileyka, Dzerzhinsk, Kalinkovichi, Lida, Molodechno, Mozyr, Nesvizh, Novogrudok, Orsha, Ostrovets, Pinsk, Polotsk, Rechitsa, Soligorsk, Slonim and others.

The total number of settlements, in which residents can now use 4G mobile communication in the A1 network comes ever closer to 200. The territory covered includes 76% of the Belarusian population.

"We are pleased that the agreements reached with the beCloud infrastructure operator made it possible to provide our subscribers in many cities with 4G mobile communication in the shortest possible time. The quality of services provided has always been and still remains the priority of A1, therefore today we are actively consolidating efforts with our partner. For instance, the high quality of the 4G network coverage, which has become available to A1 subscribers in Bobruisk and Zhlobin today, is ensured by joint efforts of experts of the two companies based on the infrastructure provided by A1 for base stations similar to that in Pinsk and Gomel," says Nikolai Yushkevich, A1 First Deputy Director General.

At present time, A1 and beCloud technical experts are working on network optimization and debugging. Upon completion of these activities, A1 subscribers will be able to experience all the advantages of high-speed mobile Internet even during the hours of the highest network load, as well as in places of the highest Internet traffic generation.

Starting with January 2020, the deployment of a 4G network in rural areas will be implemented by A1 providing its infrastructure for base stations, as well as a transport network based on hybrid, radio-relay and fiber optic communication lines, to the beCloud infrastructure operator.

As a result, the 4G network coverage area for A1 subscribers will be equal to the current A1's 3G network coverage area by 2023, providing access to high-speed 4G mobile Internet to residents of Belarus across more than 97% of the country.

To make sure that your mobile device and SIM card support 4G technology, it is necessary to check the selected cellular network settings, 3G/4G or LTE, in your smartphone settings. The corresponding designation, which confirms the possibility to use the transmission service, will appear on the device screen.

To check whether the 4G network is supported by SIM cards, A1 subscribers may use a free USSD request *181#. In response, the operator will send an SMS with the result of the check of the smartphone and the SIM card. If your SIM card does not support 4G, it can be replaced free of charge in any of the company stores or dealership centers.

To see the true value of the data transmission option within the 4G network, A1 has significantly increased the volume of Internet traffic provided with "Comfort M/L/XL" tariffs and now offers its subscribers to take advantage of special New Year offers when subscribing to these tariffs.

Only until the 31st of December all those subscribed to "Comfort M/L/XL" tariffs will receive a 50% discount on the monthly subscription fee for the next 6 months, as well as unlimited Internet for a year as a bonus. When purchasing the popular A1 Alpha smartphone in installments ranging from 9.90 rubles per month, buyers will receive free unlimited Internet for 2.5 years at a speed that depends on the chosen service plan.
