A1 and beCloud increased 4G coverage for Minsk region by 5 times
A1, a telecom, ICT and content services provider, and the beCloud infrastructure operator have completed 4G network expansion in Minsk region. Now more than 98 % of the region's population will be able to use high-speed LTE Internet, while 4G coverage in the region increased by more than five-fold: from 17.7 to 89 %.
Over 240 base stations operating in the 800 MHz frequency band were installed in the Minsk region during the project implementation. It provides wide geographical network coverage and reliable signal reception in countryside, including outside populated areas. In addition, more than 60 more base stations are planned to be switched on within a month to improve coverage in the area.
The leaders in terms of 4G coverage in Minsk region are Niasvizh (95.6 %), Dzerzhinsk (93.4 %), Kopyl (88.7 %), Chervyen (84.3 %), and Soligorsk districts (81.6 %).
Dzerzhinsky district is in the first place in terms of the number of people living in the new network coverage area: 99.9 % of the residents have the possibility to use 4G services here. It is followed by Minsk (99.8 %), Soligorsk (99.1 %), Borisov (99 %) and Niasvizh districts (98.3 %).
At the same time, in Myadel district, the number of residents who received access to the fourth generation communication increased by 3 times. In Volozhin district, it increased by 2.7 times, in Kopyl district by 2.6 times, in Logoisk district by 2.4 times, and in Kletsk district by 2.3 times.
Minsk region has already become the third region of Belarus where, within the framework of cooperation between A1 and beCloud, the project to extend the coverage area of the fourth generation communications was implemented. Before that, since July 2020, similar work has been carried out in Gomel and Mogilev regions. As an infrastructure operator, beCloud is engaged in the construction, operation, and development of a unified LTE Advanced network in Belarus. On the part of A1, the partnership consists of providing beCloud with its technical infrastructure, as well as the transport network based on hybrid, radio relay, and fiber optic lines for the installation of infrastructure operator's equipment that ensures 4G operation.
A1 and beCloud further plan to launch LTE network in Vitebsk region. By 2023, the 4G coverage area for A1 subscribers will be practically equal to the current 3G coverage area of the A1 network and reach 97 % of the territory of Belarus.
