А1 and МТS Enhance Mobile Services in Remote Settlements Through Shared Infrastructure

About Company

A1 and MTS have completed another stage of deploying the RAN Sharing technology. Following three project stages, the two mobile network providers launched 850 new base stations each. This allowed to elevate mobile network quality in remote settlements and areas with complex landscapes. The companies already started working on the next project stage.

The RAN Sharing technology allows to expand network geography and capacity through shared use of base stations. As a result, the full cycle of rolling out new capacities is reduced from several years to several months. On top of that, reduced amount of equipment in use and lower energy consumption result in less carbon emissions.

The companies opted for a 900MHz frequency band. A 900MHz signal provides a wider coverage and successfully passes through areas with complex landscapes and wooded terrain. It's a 900MHz frequency band that ensures a reliable network coverage in villages and remote settlements.
