А1 accepts applications for the participation in the contest The First among senior schoolers
The First is a social–educational project and contest of bright ideas for generation Z, i.e. schoolers of 9th, 10th and 11th grades that starts on 3-8 October in Belarus. Throughout a school year project participants will work on their idea, develop public speaking and selfpresentation skills, acquire decent knowledge at workshops and meetings with experts. 10 finalists selected by the jury will be provided with personal TEDx mentors and will together prepare for their big presentation at the large-scale youth conference TEDxYouth@Minsk.
It is 10 finalists who will enter the red TED circle and present their ideas to the big audience. Everyone will be awarded with iPhone Xs. The First will be realized only in the Belarusian language including all master classes and public presentations by the finalists, since one of the purposes of the given initiative is promotion of the Belarusian language and it’s popularity on the international arena with the help of TED community.
Social – educational project The First is realized by A1 under support of the organizers of TEDxMinsk. Last year A1 already implemented a similar educational project named velcom YOUTH. The First extends it’s horizons – there is a number of workshops and educational events planned not only in Minsk, but also in Grodno, Gomel, Mogilev and Vitebsk.
Moreover, this year apart from 10th and 11th graders there will be 9th graders invited too. The number of topics is also extended: besides Technology, Culture and Inclusivity there will be a new area like Ecology added. More details are on generation.A1.by and project community. According to the guidelines of the conctest posted on the portal, applications will be accepted between 8 October and 8 March 2020. The first application shall feature a formulated idea and a short overview of it. Schoolers of all Belarusian regions are welcome to apply. Registered participants will be invited to interactive workshops with experts in the areas like presentation skills and public speaking including well-known Belarusian and foreign experts in the contest areas.
“We initiate the First for the senior schoolers across the country to be able to develop additional skills in the areas of their interest. We believe that the principle Think Globally, Act Locally can be a trigger for big changes. In partnership with Belarus TEDx community we would like create opportunity for Belarusian youth to get their voice heard, for teenagers to share their ideas and find support”, - noted Mikalay Bredelev, head of A1 PR.
Contest participants will be able to upgrade their idea. Before 8 March 2020 a video featuring extended presentation of the idea shall be uploaded to an own page in any social network with a hashtag #generationA1 and the link sent to generationA1.2019@gmail.com.
Inventors of the brightest, most interesting, significant, perpective and creative ideas will join the ranks of 10 finalists. They will attend TEDxMinsk 2020 and will start working on the presentation of their idea at the final TEDxYouth@Minsk in May 2020. The conferance will be broadcasted by VOKA.

TED (technology, entertainment, design) is a world-wide format of the conference established in 1984 in the USA. It’s mission is spread and promotion of unique ideas. Famous TED participants include Steve Jobs, Stephen Hawking, Bill Clinton, etc.
TEDx is a project that enables individuals or group of people to organize independent conferances in TED format and under it’s license.
TEDx history in Belarus:
The first TEDx event in Belarus was organized in 2009. Since then there have been 8 conferances held. TEDxMinsk2019 was hosted by Janka Kupala Theatre and turned into one of the brightest intellectual events in Belarus.
In 2018-2019 the first social-educational project for senior schoolers velcom YOUTH was organized in Belarus where ten finalists entered the stage as speakers of a big youth conference TEDxYouth@Minsk.
