A1 is to provide 4G network coverage for more than 75 % of the Mogilev region
A1, telecom, ICT and content service provider, is preparing to launch 4G communications in the Mogilev region in tandem with the beCloud infrastructure operator. Upon completion of all the necessary work, access to high-speed Internet powered by the LTE technology will become available in more than 75 % of the region's territory.
To expand the 4G coverage area, the frequency range of 800 MHz is used. Its special feature is the large operating range of base stations, which allows for a wide geographical coverage of the new network, including the rural areas. The commercial launch is expected to take place within a month.
The fourth-generation communications will offer residents of the Mogilev region an opportunity to use mobile Internet at high speed, as well as provide access to VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology. It provides high quality voice communications of the HD Voice standard.
The launch of 4G in the Mogilev region will promote cooperation between A1 and beCloud aimed at expanding the coverage of fourth-generation communications in Belarus. On the part of A1, it involves providing its technical infrastructure, as well as a transport network based on hybrid, radio relay and fiber-optic communication lines for the installation of equipment that ensures the operation of the 4G standard.
At the end of July 2020, a similar project has already been implemented in the Gomel region. In 2021, the LTE network will appear in one more region besides the Mogilev one. The 4G network coverage area for A1 subscribers will be practically equal to the current A1's 3G network coverage area across the country by 2023, providing access to high-speed 4G mobile Internet to residents of Belarus across more than 97 % of the country.
