A1 presented an IoT solution for monitoring the storage conditions of medicinal products

A1 company, in cooperation with the MITE IoT developer and VitFarmMarket, which is part of the Apteka Group holding that is currently developing Adel and Dobriya Leki pharmacy chains, implemented a solution that allows to monitor the production environment parameters in real-time. It ensures the compliance with strict requirements for the storage and shipment of medicinal products at all stages of the transportation from the manufacturer to the consumer.

The solution includes mite devices operating on the basis of SIM cards and the NB-IoT or 2G/3G network from A1, and is capable of monitoring various parameters at the objects of surveillance, such as temperature, humidity, pressure and other indicators using wired or wireless sensors. Collected information is sent to the server, where it is stored and processed. Users can view all the necessary data from any device in the form of user-friendly graphs, as well as receive instant push notifications if certain parameter values fall beyond the set limits. This makes it possible to quickly respond to an emergency situation and prevent the consequences of microclimate changes on the merchantibility of drug products.

At the first stage of the project implementation, VitFarmMarket equipped its entire fleet of vehicles with mite devices. In the future, the sensors are planned to be installed in warehouses and cold rooms, which will allow users to monitor the full cycle of the drug transportation cold chain. This being said, the company did not need to invest in the purchase of all the equipment immediately. The MITE solution can be purchased as a service with a monthly subscription fee charged for the devices that are actually used. The solution already includes the State Verification, and the responsibility for the said verification timing lies with the MITE solution provider.

With this project, A1 continues to develop the direction of IoT solutions based on the NB-IoT network, which is currently available in all large regional towns and cities of Belarus. It can ultimately be scaled up and applied in other industries requiring comprehensive control of the production environment parameters.
