A1 conducted a test launch of a communication line on the third line of the Minsk Metro

A1, provider of telecom, ICT and content services provided mobile communications and an Internet connection on the third line of the Minsk Metro in test mode.

The communications test demonstrated the technical readiness of the A1 network at Kavalskaja Słabada, Vakzalnaja, Plošča Franciška Bahuševiča and Jubilejnaja Płošča stations. Once the third subway line is opened, metro passengers will easily be able to make calls, including those in HD-Voice format, as well as use mobile Internet both on station platforms and in underground crosswalks.

Furthermore, A1 communications will become available in the tunnels between Plošča Franciška Bahuševiča and Jubilejnaja Płošča stations in the nearest future. Communication will become available on other stages between stations once other Belarusian operators involved in the project complete their share of the work.

At the new 3.5-km start-up line of the Minsk Metro, as has already been done on Maskoŭskaja and Awtazavodskaya lines, the solution of laying a leaky feeder cable along the walls of the tunnels, proposed earlier by the A1 company, will be implemented. It is connected to base stations and replaces the regular antennas of cellular communications, making it a source of a stable signal for mobile devices of the subway passengers.

After the test launch, A1 will continue to work on setting up and optimizing the network at the stations of the new line and the sections between them. That way, by the time the third metro line opens, its passengers will have the opportunity to use all types of mobile services from A1.

A1 began the implementation of the project to provide mobile communications in the Minsk Metro sections back in 2018. By October 2018, the company completed all preparatory work and began installing equipment in the tunnels, and from April to May 2019 it gradually provided communications to various sections of the Maskoŭskaja and Awtazavodskaya lines. Thanks to this, mobile communications and the Internet are currently available to A1 subscribers at all existing stations and sections between stations with a total length of coverage of 37.3 km.
