Helping the granny with #ionline: А1 has launched its volunteer movement to explain mobile technologies to people
#ionline volunteer movement has been launched in Belarus. Its main aim is to open mobile Internet possibilities to people doing their first steps in the digital world. Everyone ready to explain modern communication technologies to friends and relatives is welcome to join the project. The volunteer movement is initiated by А1.
#ionline is accessible to all volunteers being subscribers of any mobile operator. The only requirement is that a person is an active user of mobile technologies willing to share his or her knowledge with others.
To participate in #ionline movement one needs to find a person who needs help in learning the basics of mobile internet technologies and get registered at a special site.
“Access to mobile technologies has already become the basic need for any modern person, and providing such access to as many people as possible is one of the main directions of A1’s activities. Nowadays, when it is especially important to be online, we see that we must help those who find using mobile technologies rather challenging. Now every active mobile Internet user can help one’s friends and relatives by simply joining our volunteer movement," – said Nikolay Bredelev, Head of A1 Corporate Communications Department.
The task of the volunteer is to explain what the mobile Internet can be useful for and how much time it can save: how to pay bills online and skip queues, make purchases with home delivery, search for necessary information and install applications, order medicines and other goods, make video calls with relatives and friends – many people still find it difficult to figure it out on their own. To help them, #ionline movement has been created.
The registration on the official website gives the volunteer a bonus – the opportunity to transfer 1 GB of free Internet to the subscriber he or she plans to help. The volunteer's phone number cannot be the same as the traffic recipient's one. An SMS message will be sent to the #ionline student's number with a request to activate the bonus: one needs to send the USSD request *173# and press the "Call" button. The bonus is to be added within 24 hours and is valid for 30 days. After the end of this period, the traffic is expired.
The volunteer can use the bonus only once and pass it only to the A1 subscriber’s number. If the volunteer’s student is a subscriber of any other operator, then the bonus can only be received when switching to any of A1 tariff plans. One may still get training without using bonus traffic.
A special channel on Telegram has been launched to help volunteers. Its virtual assistant Ian has already helped his relatives to use the mobile Internet and is now ready to give advice to volunteers to help them educate those who conquer the world of modern technologies. One may also find additional information about #ionline movement, useful advice and instructions on the project’s site.
