Mobile Internet doubled: A1 increased 4G network capacity in Gomel

About Company

A1 has completed another stage of expanding the LTE network capacity in Gomel in partnership with the infrastructure operator beCloud. Additional capacities deployed in the 2,600 MHz range on the territory of the regional center made it possible to significantly increase the throughput of the fourth-generation data transmission network. And taking into account the improvements made earlier since the beginning of the year, the total capacity of the fourth-generation network available to A1 subscribers has increased almost 2 times.

Mobile internet users on the 4G (LTE) network will see the difference: the network's capacity has been substantially enhanced thanks to the expanded use of the 2,600 MHz frequency band and the implementation of MIMO 4x4 technology. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology utilizes simultaneous data transmission and reception across multiple streams, significantly improving both the speed and quality of the signal.

This is the second increase in network capacity since the beginning of the year, which has provided even more stable access to high-speed mobile Internet using LTE technology for a larger number of simultaneous connections. This is especially important in large cities with large or high population densities.

To switch to 4G and take advantage of all the advantages of modern high-quality communication, you need to:

1. enable 4G (LTE) in your phone settings;

2. enable VoLTE mode in the settings to ensure higher quality of voice calls;

3. make sure that the SIM card supports LTE (if necessary, replace the SIM with USIM or eSIM free of charge at any A1 service center);

4. make sure that the phone supports LTE (change the phone if necessary).

Check the readiness of your device and SIM card to work in the 4G network using the USSD request *181# call. You can find out more about the coverage area and the average speed of A1's 4G network on A1's official website at the link, as well as in My A1 app. You can read about the features and advantages of the 4G Communication Standard on the special web-page by clicking the link as well.

The project was executed in partnership with the infrastructure operator beCloud engaged in the construction, operation and rollout of a unified LTE network in Belarus. As part of this cooperation, A1 provides beCloud with its technical infrastructure and its transport network based on hybrid, radio relay and fiber-optic communication lines for the installation of equipment that supports fourth generation communications.
