Environmental consciousness from А1: the company has released a comic book for children about environmental care
A1 has released the first comic book for children and teenagers about the adventures of Eva and Seva. The book tells them about environmental concerns. This is a series of stories educating people how they can take care of the nature. The online version of the first part is already available at the A1's website.
In accordance with its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy, the company has consistently been focused on environmentally sound development over the years, paying special attention to enhancing environmental consciousness and popularizing habits that facilitate environmental protection in simple day-to-day actions. At the same time, A1 actively supports children's education and regularly involves young audiences in go green initiatives. The company has developed the comic book on the topic so that the children and teenagers are able to increase their environmental awareness through entertainment.
The first part of the book was presented in a form of an interactive ecology lesson on the roof of A1's head office. The children who were present at the lesson were students of the Green Schools network, an educational project aimed at fostering an attitude of care towards nature among schoolchildren. The project is supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus and the Republican Center for Ecology and Local History. The lesson was also attended by children under care of A1's partners: SOS Children's Villages, the Republican Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children, and the family-type children's home in Minsk.
In the first part of the book, "Eva and Seva. The Mystery of the Lost Devices", the reader gets to know the main characters, a brother and sister. In the beginning of the story, all home appliances disappear from their house suddenly. The curious children instigate a search for the missing devices and the readers learn why it is important to properly dispose of old devices. Two more parts of the story will be dedicated to the adventures of the children.
The book is available in Russian and Belarusian. The limited printed edition will be distributed through 29 A1 brand shops and the Green Schools network. It is also recommended for schoolchildren as an additional educational material on the topic of proper disposal of home appliances and reducing the waste footprint.
A1 has established its own system for collection of small-sized electronic and electrical equipment. Operable devices make no damage to people or to the environment but they become toxic when landfilled. Anyone can bring used devices — mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, e-books — to any of the company's stores so that they are safely disposed of later.
