A1 engineers continue to work on restoring cellular communications in the affected regions of the Gomel region
A1 experts have been working to restore backup power supply on cellular communication towers that were left without electricity after the hurricane winds and fallen trees damaged most of the power lines in the region since the first hours of the natural disaster.
As of July 17, 2024, cellular communication has been restored in all district centers of the Gomel region, and cellular coverage has been provided in the area of the settlements of Turovichi, Novye Novoselki (Kaplichi), Buda Lelchitskaya, CP "Aleksandrovka", Khomenki (Kirov), Slovechno, CP "Novaya Rudnya", Gabrileevka, Streshin, Rudenka, Kozlovichi, Borshchevka, Muravchiy, Pribor, Solonoe, Mitki, Korolevskaya Sloboda, Parichi, Sudovitsa, Dvorishche, Krinichny, Strelsk, Syrod, Turtsevichi, Prudok, Kostyukovichi, Sloboda, Grabov, Muravchiy, Pribor, Novy Barsuk, Starokrasnoye, Mozyr Refinery, Chirkovichi, Glushkevichi, Miloshevichi, Stodolichi, Tsykuny, Vasilevichi, Zashchebye, and Korovatichi, allowing residents to fully use mobile devices for communication.
In some settlements in the Kalinkovichi, Zhlobin, Lelchitsy, Rechitsa, and Mozyr districts, the work of cellular towers is not yet fully operational due to the lack of power supply.
As external power supply is restored at the base stations, the emergency and recovery teams are being transferred to the next facilities to ensure cellular coverage in remote settlements. Currently, 16 of the company's own emergency teams and 8 additional teams formed from employees of involved contractors are engaged in the repair and restoration work. Emergency teams have been transferred from other regions. Work is being carried out around the clock. All teams continue to work until the full restoration of the network's operability. Interaction with representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Gomel region continue to provide additional means for temporary power supply to base stations. Currently, 29 generators of A1 UE and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are involved.
