On February 21, the whole world celebrates the International Mother Language Day. In collaboration with VOKA online cinema from A1, we have made a selection of foreign blockbusters CINEVOKA so that everyone is able to hear beautiful Belarusian speech.

 

Anna Karenina (1997)

 

A young and elegant noblewoman leads a luxurious, yet lonely and empty life with her husband and son. A manful young officer with a noble title and a passionate heart. It is a story of their love, which is first secret, then—exposed to public.

 

Adaptation (2002)

 

A famous screenwriter Charlie Kaufman is hired to write an adaptation of The Orchid Thief, a book written by Susan Orlean, who is a journalist. He soon finds himself in a spiritual dead end and struggles with a writer's block. These emotions, which he has never experienced before, become an obstacle in his work. Once, an idea comes to his mind: to describe his state in the script. Suddenly the writer notices that fiction and reality start to intertwine.

 

Dreamer (2005)

 

The movie is inspired by true events. Two lonely souls, a father and a daughter, live under one roof. Despite their deep love, there is no closeness between them. Everything changes when little Cale asks her father to cure her horse. This becomes a start for a story of love and affection, a new life for their family, and true friendship.

Andrew Neiman, an ambitious drummer and a student at a conservatory in New York, works hard to become a famous musician. He is noticed by a conductor of a jazz band who invites him to an audition. Andrew gets recruited and soon experiences abusive practices of the band leader.

 

Armour of God (1986)

 

Jackie, a.k.a. "Asian Hawk", is an adventurer and treasure hunter. Who could have imagined that a sword stolen by him is one of the five pieces of a legendary armour called the "Armour of God". The person who steals them is either bound to destroy them or to be forever damned by the Forces of Evil.
