MOVA of Belarus: art installations powered by A1 are being mounted in every oblast centre
Art installations made of sculptured letters forming a word MOVA will appear in six largest cities in Belarus. Mounting of the first construction at ulitsa Kirova in Gomel is about to be finished and over the next two months A1 together with the initiative Nobility of the Mother Tongue will erect a series of such installations also in Brest, Mogilev, Vitebsk, Grodno and Minsk.
All letters are manufactured as a street furniture made of timber and metal of a specific color – this is the main differentiating feature of the art installations. The idea of the owner, a well-known Belarusian sculptor Pavel Voinitsky was that a set of colors reflects cultural, historic and landscape features of every region. A free of charge Wi-Fi from A1 will be made available upon installation of every art sculpture.
«Our CSR policy prioritizes projects that support Belarusian language and overall national identity. This year we decided to unite technologies and contemporary art and make a present for Belarusian dwellers: erect MOVA art installations in six largest cities. We hope that in the long run under favorable conditions these installations will become popular leisure spots and will serve as a reminder of the mother tongue associated with beauty and comfort”, - commented Nikolai Bredelev, head of A1 PR.
Red, black, green, yellow or gold, grey and numerous shadows of blue – these are the colors that for centuries surrounded Belarusians in everyday life, architecture and nature. This is reflected in the research MOVA project is based on, i.e. concepts of the national color preferences from a designer, artist and poet Mikhail Anempodistov (described in his book The Color of Belarus) as well as in the reconstructions of the national costumes by anthropologist Mikhail Romanyuk.
“Appeal to the cultural heritage of the Belarusian people, a specific urge to the contemplation and creation of a unique atmosphere for the perception of moral values, setting of new social bonds via well-balanced mainstreaming into urban art environment as a symbol of the mother tongue performed within the framework of a popular trend in the contemporary art named as Public Art is a key idea of this largescale creative social initiative. Development of a unique art installation for every Belarusian region taking into account it’s differences and peculiarities is very important and topical. A big project team has no hesitations about it”, - said Zakhar Dudinsky, initiator of the project Nobility of the Mother Tongue.
In Gomel the art installation is located at ulitsa Kirova 32а close to the Institute of Metallic Systems Mechanics. It is manufactured in a combination of blue, yellow, grey, red and black colors. Majority of them are traditionally used for the official armory of Gomel oblast. Besides, this region, i.e. south of Belarus, is a resort area that hosts the largest rivers in the country like Sozh, Dnepr and Pripyat. Water landscape of the region, sandy beaches and banks, parks and forests are reflected via soft relaxing colors of the art sculptures.
In Brest such installation will appear on the intersection of ulitsa Sovetskaya and Francis Skorina embankment. It has a harmonic combination of green, various shades of blue, red and black colors. Later on, another construction will be placed at Troitskaya embankment in Mogilev. It will combine green, blue, yellow, red and black colors. In Vitebsk at ulitsa Lenina in front of the 1000th anniversary bridge MOVA sculpture will be made of colors characteristic for UNOVIS association, i.e. yellow, red, black, gold and blue. Yellow, various shades of blue, red and black – this is a combination for the installations at ulitsa Mostovaya in Grodno. In Minsk at Adam Mitskevich park there will appear a construction made of blue, green, yellow, red and black symbols.
