At TIBO-2023, A1 and the Belarusian Association of Computer Sports demonstrated a new view on cybersports
At the XXIX International ICT-forum TIBO-2023, which took place on April 18th to 21st in Minsk, A1 and the Belarusian Association of Computer Sports staked on cybersport: the united stand turned into a playground for all the computer games fans, while for the partners themselves, the participation in the largest IT exhibition in the country was a great chance to once again draw attention of all the interested parties to the development and official recognition of cybersport.
During the days of the forum, more than 40 tournaments in 17 disciplines took place at the stand of A1 and the Belarusian Association of Computer Sports: computer ones (in particular, StarCraft II, Dota 2, CS:GO, Valorant, League of Legends), mobile ones (Wild Rift, Brawl Stars, PUBG Mobile) and console ones (FIFA, Tekken, Gran Turismo, etc.). Many gamers came to the registration in prepared teams, but any visitor of TIBO could apply to compete in their favorite game and feel like a real cybersport star.
The organizers tried to bring the atmosphere of the tournaments as close as possible to the atmosphere of major cybersport events. At the stand, the players were provided with professional level gaming equipment, and the course of the competitions was covered by the invited commentators from the live studio located right at the stand.
The program of the partners' participation in TIBO-2023 was supplemented by the speeches of the cybersport community representatives devoted to various aspects of the world gaming industry development as well as the most prominent domestic events in this sphere. The most anticipated news is the recognition of cybersport as an official sport. And, according to the representatives of the Association, this could happen in the near future.
"The Association is doing everything possible to make cybersport in Belarus get an official status. We have developed and are successfully implementing a dedicated program for the development of cybersport, designed until 2025. On this way we actively cooperate with the state — in particular, with the Ministry of Sports and Tourism and the National Olympic Committee — to work out unified rules for this market and to bring the existing amateur and semi-professional gaming in our country to a qualitatively new level. And we have all reasons to expect that these efforts will soon bring the desired result," commented Anton Bladik, A1 Senior Director for Digital Platforms and Content, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Association of Computer Sports.
Apart from participating in tournaments and discussing the future of cybersport in Belarus, the visitors of the stand of A1 and the Belarusian Association of Computer Sports had an opportunity to get acquainted with various trends in the gaming industry, for example, to experience virtual reality technologies, try out recent innovations, or just play their favorite games during the Free to play.
