Do the Unexpected: for winter holidays A1 released a series of postcards featuring quotes of Vladimir Korotkevich

On Christmas and New Year eve, A1 released a series of creative postcards with quotes of Vladimir Korotkevich. The project is named as PashtoukA1 which is a continuation of the campaign #Korotkevich90 for the 90th anniversary of the writer. Starting from 15 December anyone can get a free of charge festive message from a well-known writer at any of 85 A1 stores across Belarus. All ten postcards can be downloaded from A1 portal in high quality.

 

Ten famous and inspiring quotes of Vladimir Korotkevich were illustrated by a well-known Belarusian artist and director of inclusive studio SOWY Nika Sandros. Postcards featuring statements of a classicist are available for all visitors of A1 stores irrespective of their purchases or absence of purchases. The postcard will be also provided to visitors of A1virtual store and it will be delivered together with an online order starting from 15 December. This is a limited edition that is why this activity will run till the last postcard given away.

In the native town of the writer, i.e. Orsha, the postcards are available at A1 store at ulitsa Mira 4, in Rogachev where the classic writer created numerous of his works at Lenina 49a, in Minsk it is also available at the flagship store at ulitsa Internatsionalnaya not far from ulitsa Karla Marksa 36 where Vladimir Korotkevich used to live. “For the 90th anniversary of Vladimir Korotkevich we launched an information campaign #Korotkevich90 in order to remind of the contribution of the well-known writer into the national culture and talk about his personality via a series of events and online projects. In fact, Korotkevich used to congratulate his near and dear ones with the postcards that he had personally created. That is why this year we made up our mind to make it possible for everyone to congratulate each other through the messages from the classicist”, - commented Nikolai Bredelev, head of A1 PR.

Specifically for the festive postcard series an artist Nika Sandros has created a few fairytale characters, i.e. Belarusian owls and complimented every drawing with symbols of the folk patterns.

“Illustrations on the postcards do not only reinterpret the quotes of the classicist but also hide Belarusian secrets and peculiarities. For example, the flower that the owl is holding on one of the drawings, is an unusual and rare plant found in our forests, i.e. a royal fern. On another drawing the river in the background not coincidentally reminds of a Belarusian letter Ў which is found only in Belarusian out of all Cyrillic alphabets”, - noted Nika Sandros.

The first person who personally signed off and sent a postcard to her close and dear ones was Elena Sinkevich, a nephew and the only heiress of the well-known writer. She decided to send out a few other festive messages to Kiev National University of Taras Shevchenko where Vladimir Korotkevich used to study, Public Library of Belarusian Literature named after Vladimir Korotkevich in Tallinn, Children Library named after V.S. Korotkevich in Orsha, Museum of Vladimir Korotkevich in Orsha as well as Orsha Secondary School #3 that has a museum hall dedicated to the famous writer.

A coffee shop Inclusive Barrista that opened a month ago at A1 store at Internatsionalnaya in Minsk has supported the initiative too. On 15 December every visitor will get a postcard with Vladimir Korotkevich’s quote as a gift.
