The A1 experts are completing the work to restore cellular communication in the regions of the Gomel region affected by the hurricane
A1 engineering and technical services are at the final stage of fully restoring cellular communication in the affected regions of the Gomel region, which were hit by a hurricane wind on July 14, 2024, causing significant damage to the infrastructure. The fall of trees damaged most power lines in the region and, as a result, de-energized cell phone towers. As of July 19, 2024, cellular communication has been restored in all districts of the region, except for individual base stations where power has not yet been supplied or where the equipment or infrastructure of the base station was seriously damaged by the hurricane wind.
The work, including the replacement and restoration of communication equipment, is carried out around the clock, so that the company's customers can fully use mobile devices for communication.
A1 sincerely thanks all the employees of the emergency and recovery teams who started to eliminate the consequences of the disaster from the first minutes after its strike. Currently, 16 of the company's own emergency teams and 9 additional teams formed from employees of involved contractors are engaged in the repair and restoration work. Emergency teams have been transferred from other regions. All teams continue to work until the full restoration of the network's operability.
A1 also thanks the representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Gomel region, with whom round-the-clock interaction is carried out to provide additional means for the temporary power supply of base stations. Currently, 37 generators of A1 UE and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are involved. Operational delivery of fuel for the operation of generators is underway. The restoration of the A1 network's operability is carried out around the clock and is in its final stage.
