First night online: VOKA broadcasts a new show by the RTBD Profit live

For the first time ever in the history of the Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama the first night show will be organized in online format. On 12 May the said theatre will stage a new show, a tragic comedy about the routine life of public servants named Profit and screen it on VOKA. The show can be viewed free of charge also from abroad.

The play called Profit is produced in Belarusian and themed on the play by Alexander Ostrovsky Plum Job. The show was produced by Alexander Gartsuyev, creative director of RTBD. The play has been significantly modified: a few scenes have been dramatically changed, there is a new character introduced, while the story takes place not in the middle of the 19th century but in the early 21st. All that emphasizes perpetual relevance of the issues raised by Ostrovsky at his time and by our fellowmen nowadays: Where is the world coming to? What’s wrong with the contemporary society? How do we measure a personality – by material assets or mental wealth?

Artem Kuren performs the main character, an honest idealist Zhadov. Anna Semenyako will play his wife Polina on the first night show on 12 May while the main antagonist of Zhadov – a pragmatic careerist Belogubov this night will be performed by Maxim Shishko. Besides, the performance engages Maxim Braginets, Grazhina Bykova, an honored artist of the Republic of Belarus Lyudmila Sidorkevich, Andrei Dobrovolsky, Natalia Holodovich, Nikolai Stonka and an honored artist of the Republic of Belarus Valentin Soloviyev.

It took a little more than three months for the creative group of the Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama to produce the new show. Initially the premiere was appointed for the early April, however, overall situation in the country and globally recalibrated the date and the format of the planned show. For the first time ever the first night show of RTBD will be organized as live broadcasting. VOKA is the platform for it.

The first online show Profit on VOKA will take place on 12 May at 7 pm. Anyone can watch it free of charge and with no authorization on voka.tv or via VOKA app for Android and iOS. Moreover, the broadcasting will be also available outside Belarus which makes the premier truly global.
