Three Giselle based on a real story: VOKA will broadcast a popular Belarusian performance
On 27 April VOKA will broadcast a show Three Giselle staged by The Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama. It will start at 7pm Minsk time and will be free of charge and available from any part of the world.
The plot of the show is inspired by a real story of a French woman Giselle Coupese – Shurigina that Russian mass media used to massively talk about in the 1990th. During the Second World War Giselle was a member of French Resistance, rescued the life of a Russian officer, married him, delivered a baby-girl and moved with the husband to Samara. He was imprisoned, after having being released he did not come back home while she was unable to return to France.
A playwright Andrei Kureichik created a play based on this story where three main characters Spring Giselle, an 18-year old girl who was living in Paris and dreaming about ballet, Summer Giselle, a 35- year old woman living in a Belarusian village Karzuny and Autumn Giselle, a 77- year old lady who is still far away from her homeland.
Despite the fact that Three Giselle directed by Alexander Gartsuyev has been on at The Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama since 2013, popularity of this show remains undiminished, it is a touching and dramatic story that melts the hearts of the audience from a season to a season.
Broadcasting will be available on 27 April from any device in any operator’s network upon authorization in VOKA app or on voka.tv via a mobile number. A multi camera high resolution filming will create an immersive atmosphere for a viewer and will make it possible to see everything what is happening on the stage from different angles.
The show Three Giselle is a continuation of a series of broadcastings from The Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama launched on VOKA in 2020. Via this service the audience was able to attend an online premiere of the tragic comedy Profit, The Career of Doctor Raus, Sirozha and Married to the Wind as well as a festive gathering Our Karatkevich dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Vladimir Korotkevich.
