300 solar panels and an air heat pump were installed at the SOS Children's village Mogilev following the results of the 100 Hours with A1 charity campaign

300 solar panels and an air source heat pump have been installed at the SOS Children's village Mogilev. Thanks to this equipment, the residents will receive environmentally friendly electricity at any time of the year. The system was installed with funds allocated by A1 following the 100 Hours with A1 charity campaign. This is the first time such a solution has been implemented in Belarus within the framework of such a large-scale project.

This year, the 100 Hours with A1 sports charity campaign brought together more than 2 thousand fans of running, walking, cycling and swimming from all over Belarus. The participants managed to reach the main common goal ahead of schedule, which is 50 000 hours of training in 50 days, so that A1 would provide sponsorship to the International Public Organization SOS-Children's villages in the amount of 50,000 rubles designated for the eco-equipment installation.

“ESG's environmental, social and corporate governance principles are our company’s priority. We strive to implement environmental projects that are significant for society. The A1 solar park has been operating in the Brahin district for five years already, solar panels have been installed in educational institutions of each region of Belarus, and practical and environmentally friendly bicycle parking lots will soon appear all over the country. And now, with the support of the 100 Hours with A1 participants, we managed to implement another important "green" project in partnership with the SOS Children's villages,” said Nikolay Bredelev, head of the public relations and ESG department of A1.

The equipment installed in the SOS Children's Village Mogilev will generate 39,171 kWh. Energy efficient systems will help to fully meet the villagers’ and visitors’ needs for electricity in summer. In autumn, this figure will reach 85% of all electricity used, and in winter - 60%.

“Our plan is to install a storage system next year to store the electricity generated in summer and use it on less sunny days. And then the village will be 100% provided with clean energy. Thus, one big eco-project gave a start and stimulus to further development in the direction of reaching carbon neutrality. In addition, the occurrence of such object has an important educational aspect: hundreds of our wards and thousands of our friends and partners will be able to witness the work of alternative energy sources with their own eyes,” stressed Tatyana Dzhunedzha, head of the partnership department of SOS Children's villages.

In October, on the territory of the SOS-Children's village Borovlyany, personalized trees will also be planted in honor of the most active 100 Hours with A1 participants who gained over a hundred hours of training.
