velcom congratulated the winners of the Republican contest "The Woman of the Year 2009"

velcom acted as an official sponsor of the second Republican contest "The Woman of the Year 2009", which took place on March 2, 2010 at The National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus.

The event gathered more than 200 people. 9 women received awards at a grand ceremony of celebration in honour of the winners in the nominations as follows:

3. "For achievements in upbringing of children"

5. "For female courage"
6. "For contribution to spiritual and moral revival"
7. "For contribution to village revival"

At the press conference devoted to this event, Michael Batranets, Director General of FE "VELCOM", expressed his gratitude to organizers for holding such a useful and significant contest. Moreover, velcom was entrusted to announce the winner in the nomination "For charity and mercy" among women being the heads of organizations and natural persons who brought a special contribution to charity and showed mercy. Gorchakova Anna, Director of the Belarusian Children's Hospice, received the title of "The Woman of the Year" in this nomination.

"Anna's example is worth imitation and the highest appreciation. Thanks to vigorous activity of such people with high moral ideals, for whom mercy and assistance to a neighbour are not just words, but a soul calling, the most serious and essential problems can be solved in our society. We are proud of the fact that our women are not only household keepers, loving wives and mothers, but successful public figures as well", – Michael Batranets said, handing over the memorable gift, a 3G modem and netbook, from velcom to the winner.
