VOKA for the first time ever will broadcast live opera The Barber of Seville by Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus

On 13 December VOKA will broadcast The Barber of Seville from Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. Everyone will be able to watch it for free online from anywhere in the world starting at 7pm Minsk time.

 

Demonstration of the famous opera by Gioacchino Rossini staged by Italian director Aldo Tarabella will be held within the framework of Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum. The story of the legendary hairdresser Figaro returned to the Belarusian stage at the end of the last season. In it, as invented by the author more than two hundred years ago, young people love each other and want to marry against the will of the guardians and a smart barber helps them all.

In the evening of 13 December the audience will for the first time hear the guest soloist of Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Goderdzi Janelidze performing the role of Don Basilio, as well as see the soloist of B.A.Pokrovsky Chamber Stage of Moscow Bolshoi Theatre Valery Makarov, already known to the Belarusian public for the role of Count Almaviva.

 

Leading parts in the opera will be performed by Alexey Makshantsev (Figaro), Dmitry Kapilov (Bartolo), Anastasia Mikhnovets (Rosina), Marina Likhosherst (Berta), Ruslan Maspanov (Fiorello) and Svyatoslav Sakharov (Officer).

 

During the show maestro Vladimir Ovodok not only conducts, but also plays the harpsichord – according to the tradition for the head of the orchestra since early 19th century when the opera was created.

 

High quality multi-camera cinematography will enable each viewer to immerse into the atmosphere of the theater hall and see everything that happens on the stage from different angles.
