News of GSM network development in April
In April, 2010 velcom installed 11 new base stations of GSM standard, improved the coverage in Minsk and other cities, towns and settlements of the Republic of Belarus.
As far as the capital concerned new stations were installed in Kuprevich Street as well as on the crossing of Uborevich and Chizhevskykh Streets around ProStore new opened hypermarket, which has been opened recently.
Moreover, the network capacity was extended in Bobruisk, Mogilev and in the settlement of Sosny, Minsk region.
A base station was installed in the settlement of Papanin, Gomel region, to provide agricultural towns with GSM telecommunication coverage.
Thus, nowadays the quantity of velcom GSM base stations makes 3,276. The network operation is maintained by 28,521 transceivers in 1,351 settlements of Belarus. The network covers more than 94.1 % of the country’s territory, where 100 % of urban population live.
